Pepwave Surf SOHO MK3 not working with Verizon USB730L modem

I’m setting up a new Surf SOHO MK3 but it will not work reliably with a Verizon USB730L modem. When connected to a laptop the USB730L has rock solid stability, but when plugged into the MK3 it keeps dropping the LTE connection every few minutes. If I try to download a large file the LTE connection is always lost.

There is also more latency when the USB730L is plugged into the MK3 versus being plugged directly into a laptop.

After powering the MK3 off and back on the LTE connection is more stable but it is still dropped under heavy use. After an uptime of about a day the LTE connection becomes more unstable and after two days the modem cannot establish a connection.

I’ve already updated the MK3 to the latest firmware: 7.0.3 build 1260.

I would suggest you log a ticket for Peplink engineering team to investigate.

Thanks, I’m off to do so now.

Is this a known problem with the USB730L? I’m worried I have a faulty router and I bought it over 90 days ago so I doubt I can return it.

There are a number of posts relating to making the USB730L work with Peplink devices on the forum. Nothing definitive from a root cause / solution perspective.

If you bought it new then it comes with 12 months RTB warranty - engineering will assist with an RMA via your reseller point if the router is indeed faulty - but it sounds like a firmware/software/driver issue to me from your description.
