Pepwave MAX BR1 Mini LTE Keeps Rolling Back (Upgrading) to Firmware 8.0.0

Greetings,

I have multiple Pepwave MAX BR1 Mini LTE that are at firmware version 8.0.0 build 3455. If I try to update these to ANY firmware (as I’ve tried several versions), the upgrade goes normally and the event log confirms. Then, within a minute, the device will say “Upgrading to 8.0.0…” and reboot. If I go to reboot, the option for the new firmware is listed. However, if selected, it will load, wait about a minute, and then reboot, rolling back to 8.0.0. Resetting to factory defaults didn’t help.

Is this a known issue? Any thoughts?

Firmware version 8.0.0 doesn’t have the SIM slot functionality that we require.

I appreciate any insight provided.

Thank you,

Jeremy

Are you doing the upgrade via the device webui?

If so, it is most likely that the device is under InControl firmware management and set to 8.0.0. So when you upgrade, IC2 spots it and fixes that for you…

I had done it through the remote web interface. However, you are correct. Upon further investigation, I have a handful of devices that are not part of the group policy, so they were indeed set to 8.0.0. I have no idea why they 'd be any different than the rest, as I have hundreds of units and they were all configured exactly the same. So, at least I know what to look at and what to keep an eye out for. Thanks for the Help!
