Hello Guys, Good day. I am currently using the Peplink Balance 20X device with 3 different WAN connections. I would like to ask if it is possible to configure the client network such that when online through WAN1, only ports 80/443 are allowed which configured on the outbound firewall rules. However, in the event of failover to WAN2, only ports 110 and 25 would be functional.
I would greatly appreciate any guidance or advice on how to achieve this setup.
Hello, may I know if anyone knows whether this is possible with Peplink?
Hi, @Precision_Support448
How to tell to a computer connected to Peplink, to know when to use port 80/443 (tcp) or 110/25(tcp)?
Hi @MarceloBarros
I thought Peplink had a feature for this. I was thinking it’s possible to configure a firewall to allow traffic through a specific WAN port similar to other routers. Currently, I am using multiple outbound policies with “Weighted Balance” to achieve this.
Hi, @Precision_Support448
Looking at firewall rules (8.5.2) there is no option for this.
Will be great to have this…
Another feature request to Peplink team.
You can specify outbound rules under: Advanced > Outbound Policy
Hi, @s.aksu
@Precision_Support448 asking for a conditional rule at firewall, that can check the WAN status to do or not to do.
Or… I understand wrong?
I believe it’s a combination of firewall rules and outbound policies. Firewall rules determine whether traffic is allowed or dropped, serving as a basic control mechanism. Outbound policies, on the other hand, manage which ports are reachable over specific WAN connections. They allow you to enforce traffic routing to a particular WAN, set priority for a specific WAN, or drop traffic if the designated WAN connection is unavailable.
In essence, the requested feature aligns more with outbound policy rules, which handle policy-based routing, rather than firewall rules, which primarily function as packet filters.
