Peplink Mini AC Access Point

I have 3 of these access points and every now and again I see clients in the client list with 0.0.0.0 for their IP address. What conditions would cause this? I would think that while the client is obtaining a DHCP address, they would show a 0.0.0.0, but I would think that it would change to the actual IP as soon as the address was obtained.

Hi jmjones,

Could you please create a support ticket with Diagnostic Report attached?
We will follow up with you.

Thanks,
Lewis

I have submitted the trouble ticket and turned on Remote Assistance on one of the APs. There is currently one device (Amazon Alexa) that shows as 0.0.0.0. The device (Alexa) is working properly, and has a valid IP address. Only the display on the client list seems incorrect.

One thing that may or may not be important is the fact that I recently went from WPA/WPA2 to only WPA2. I noticed that some of my other devices still had the connection saved as using both. I don’t think that would cause the issue, but who knows…

Thanks for the help.

I got a reply to my ticket that indicated I needed to update my firmware. May I suggest one of the two following:

A. Check for firmware update button on WAP should actually check for new firmware OR
B. Include the build number in the Firmware Updates page

Since the page only includes the firmware version number (not the build number), my comparison did not show that I was on older firmware (I was just on an older build of the same version)

At any rate, my client IPs are now populating. Thank you for the assistance.

Hi jmjones,

You are right. Our firmware checking does not include the firmware build number at this moment. We will see how to improve that in feature releases.

Thanks,
Lewis
