Peplink Balance 30 LTE won't perform firmware upgrade

We have 2 Balance 30 LTE (models BPL031-LTE-A-T) currently at firmware 6.1.2 (HV Ver1) and we desire to upgrade to 7.1.2. Initially we tried the “online” method of downloading the firmware thru the Peplink and after 40 minutes of no activity, we pulled the plug on it and it booted back up in 6.1.2. Swell…we said! We’ll go find the download and do it the manual method. After obtaining the image provided by the website for HV1, we logged in and started the manual method. We directed it to the .bin file (FW-b20_30-7.1.2-build 3575) and clicked on “Manual upgrade”. Absolutely nothing happened. No progress bar, nothing. (nothing happened, even if your tried to click on another button in the UI) After 30 minutes we pulled the plug again and it’s still at 6.1.2. What am I missing? This seems to be so straight forward and easy. What am I missing? Does this require an intermediate upgrade first? Thanks for your help!

I have no problem to upgrade from 6.1.2 to 7.1.2.

Before upgrade

After upgrade

Have you observed this whether the firmware upload is successful?

Thanks for the reply. I never saw the “uploading” in the lower left corner at all. I wonder why?

Please try to reboot the Balance 30 LTE then perform the manual upgrade again. If you can connect your laptop directly to the LAN port of Balance 30 LTE then will be great.

No joy on this effort. Did reboot (including powerdown) and the attempt to upgrade and nothing. Peplink has unmanaged switch between it and the desktop. Never see “uploading” in lower corner after pressing “manual upgrade”. Running out of time before State inspection.

It’s like there is a “write-protect” feature active.

Can I confirm the Balance 30 is managed by InControl2? If so, please check whether firmware management is enabled.
