Peplink B One Port#1 speed continuously changing

Hi,

I have just noticed this behaviour, but the logs show it has been there for at least 2-3 months. I have only my main PC on this port, CAT 5 direct wired to the port.
Rest of ports with multiple devices connected do not have this ‘problem’.
Does anyone know if this could be a cable problem, network card problem or maybe an infected PC?
I do not really notice any speed problem when using that PC.
Thanks,
François

This usually means that the port speed is set on one side and not on the other. I would check the pc nic settings to confirm that it is set to auto and if not change it to auto.

If this doesn’t work then try a different cable, or try fixing the port speeds on both sides.

The last thing to try is putting a switch in the middle to rule out an incompatible nic.

Yup, had to put a cheap gigabit switch between my B One and my S33 cable modem, would get dropouts and slow speeds otherwise. The Peplink and the switch will stay lock at 1Gb and the S33 and the switch will stay locked at 1Gb, but when the S33 and Peplink were wired together they were not happy. Given that my S33 worked fine for 2+ years with my previous router I put the blame on the PHY in the Peplink, but since the fix was a $15 switch I’m not too worried about it.

Update!
The only thing that worked was adding a switch between the PC and the Peplink router (using the same cable run).
I previously tried a full reset on the NIC settings, but no joy.
Thanks to all for the suggestions and for the solution.
