Newbie With Surf SOHO T

Hello. Absolute newbie here. I’ve been reading the forum and other sites for a full day and am overwhelmed. I’ve been shopping for a new router and my research led me to the Surf SOHO, although I’m just a home user. My Surf SOHO unit is due in the mail today and I’m thinking I’ve waded in over my head.

I’ve read around on the Peplink community forums and picked up some tidbits, but what I guess I need is Surf SOHO For Dummies. Right now I have a Spectrum cable coming in to the house, connected to an Arris Surfboard SB6141 modem, going to an ASUS RT-N56U dual band router. That’s it. Two laptops and a smart TV.

I’ve downloaded the manual for the Surf SOHO, but I’m still awash in acronyms. I’ve got a router glossary I’ve been referring to that helps some. I just need as close to plug and play as I can get: plug “this” into “that”, then “this” into “that” and so on. I’m wondering how I update the software/firmware or if it does it automatically. Any help appreciated.

Guess the key question is why did you buy the SOHO? What are you looking to achieve with it? If we know that then I’m sure the guys and gals here will be able to assist…

Hello,
I can understand being overwhelmed. Any business class router is the polar opposite of consumer devices like eero and Google Wifi. I have a cheat sheet for securely setting up a Surf SOHO here
