Naming connections per Sim and not per modem

Hello team,

I see several good reasons in considering adding an extra layer of labels on cellular connections. Today only the cellular gets a name and the sims are followed only by their ICCID than are not editable. The reports on data consumption, speed or speedfusion show the name of the cellular but not the sim actually being used.

For operator performances monitoring, hot and cold troubleshooting or billing purposes, this would be of great help.

Thanks a lot for considering this. I know it impacts the architecture more than a simple label.add()

Let’s list out what specific changes we are talking about.

Device-level per-minute, hourly and daily Usage Reports - yes, it will involve substantial changes. Note that if a cellular WAN has the SIM card been changed a few times in an hour, the hour’s figure could just refer to the last inserted one. The same limitation will also apply to daily reports too. It could be misleading. For monthly, I’d choose not to display the ICCID as it could be too misleading. What do you think?

SpeedFusion status (tabular view) - when hovering over a WAN icon, the active SIM slot’s ICCID is already being displayed.

SIM Pool Data Usage - we could allow users to input ICCIDs. They will be converted and stored in IMSIs. On displaying IMSIs, we could add an option to display them in ICCIDs. It could be available in IC 2.8 or 2.9.

What am I missing?
