Mobile in a box idea in maritime environment

Hello,
THANK YOU for all your YouTube knowledge input !
We bought a catamaran and will spend 5 month in the Canary Islands, then 6 month in the Caribbean.
I think about a setup that I can take away from the boat after our cruise.
So I imagine a box housing the router, one cable going out for the antenna to the roof, one cable going out for the power input (cigarette lighter?).
We need reliable internet for Zoom meetings.
I thought about a Max BR 1 and a Maritime 10 or 20G Antenna….
Is that a good idea?
What components can you recommend?
Kind regards,
Peter

Sure would be easy to build…

Your first decision is what router to use then you can size the enclosure after.
If you can do it, the BR1 1 Pro 5G is a great investment.

I used to design and manufacture Peplink enclosures professionally (have a look at Cloudcase for some inspiration).

Apart from making sure the router is firmly mounted with more space than you think for the sma antenna connections (and/or use 90degree SMA adapters). I would always recommend a 12v voltage regulator - most problems will be caused by weird power on boats and land vehicles. The regulator protects the router from crappy electric sources too.

Good luck! Reliable, high speed internet in a box is a lot of fun to make and use.
