Yet again i am dealing with an unauthorized customer employee “playing around” and adding a device to InControl2 preventing the customer’s network administrators from accessing the device. This particular customer has 400,000 employees worldwide with thousand of locatoins. It’s hard to control every one of their employees.
InControl2 needs to limit the initial addition of a device in InControl2. I believe there is a simple way to do this using information already being collected by Peplink. It is entered in Peplink’s Sales Registration by the selling VAR. InControl2 should, when it sees a new serial number, request the user enter the Date of Sale and Customer Name from the Sales Registration. These are both required fields. They are easily accessible after initial entry by the VAR. The VAR can easily provide this information to the end user. If the info matches, great. If not do not add the unit.
