How tu use NTRIP over the MBX4 5G

Hi,

Is there a way to use a Ntrip client over the MBX 5G?

The NTRIP protocol runs on TCP so the MBX can act as a transport for it fine.
How would the MBX connect to the NTRIP Caster / Server?

Are you thinking to have the caster connected with another MAX device and then SpedFusion between them over bonded cellular? That would be cool.

Hi Martin,

Many thanks for this first reply.

Great to read this update.

We have a project with autonomous vehicule.

Today they have some routers DigiTransport wr44 running NTRIP over RS232 and they would like to replace them by the MB4 HD4 LTE and run the Ntrip on each vehicule over speedfusion with a 380 in reception, do you have advices or a tuto to teach them how to do it?

They have also another question concerning the layer use in the Osi model by the speedfusion? Do you have details or a description on how it works?

In advance many thanks for your quick reply.

Ah OK, so I suspect the WR44 (which doesn’t support RTK / NTRIP natively as far as I’m aware) is likely doing RS232 to IP conversation to/from an RTK caster / client…

The MBX does not support serial conversion so it wouldn’t be a drop in replacement, but I bet there would be a better way to do it by leaving the router in charge of cellular management and a dedicated RS232 / IP interface / convertor doing the NTRIP work.

Sure, I know a thing or two about SpeedFusion and happy to help.
Speedfusion can be configured in both Layer 2 and Layer 3 modes. There are benefits to both ways but really you want to consider routing and traffic flow across the whole solution before you decide. You can also do mixed mode and route some traffic over L3 routes and keep the rest as a bridged Layer2 network.

Hi Martin,

Thanks again for your answer.

Just to clarify, we would like to know how running a Ntrip client inside the MB4 to remove the DigiTransport. The Ntrip client is using serial port.

The Digitransport works but we cannot have several routers insisde the vehicule and we definitely need the speedfusion.

That’s why we would like to find a solution to send DGPS or RTK correctionto the Rx trouhgh NTRIP.
