Hello, i bought an RV with a peplink BR1 Mk2…i got a googlefi data card working, but it streamed 8gb of data in 2 days…how do you turn the thing off when not using, other than cutting off the power to it? help, not really sure how to use this thing. is there an app to talk to it with, other than going thru the router? Help.
8 gB is a lot (and seems quite high) if there is nothing connected to it. If there is no other WAN (e.g., ethernet) connected you can turn of health checks. If you are not using Incontrol you should turn it off. If your firmware is current (and you ought to check that) you can even instruct the router to do its time synchs via GPS if you have a GPS antenna connected. There is another thread here on the Forum where a similar question was asked and Peplink responded with additional information. I cannot find it but your fortune may be better.
As for “an app to talk to it with,” we use (and love) the no-cost Router Utility. [InControl2] (https://www.peplink.com/software/network-management-solution-incontrol-2/) is another option.
Not familiar with the BR1 MK2, but as I understand it, the UI on all the Peplink models are very similar.
If it were me, I would start by looking for anomalies in your hourly usage & then see if you can isolate the device consuming the data (should be displayed by IP address somewhere in the UI). If you can isolate the device(s), turn them off when not in use.
Essentially I’m saying the same thing Rick said, just a little differently. Everything on my LAN is connected, but not everything is turned on and consuming data.

Thanks for the replies. After I got the data card working, by setting the APN to h2g2, it conneted to the internet. I then tried to see if the TV worked and got on to prime video, it worked. But then I just turned off the TV. I don’t think that stopped it from streaming. The cell is hooked up to a wi-fi router too. I think the TV and cell modem also did some upgrades on their own. I was accessing the cell modem thru the wi-fi router on my phone and the 192.168.50.1 addr. I’m just nor sure how to start and stop the thing! I don’t want it just sucking up data anytime i turn on the power in the RV, need info on control…and the user manual doesn’t have any basic usage info that makes any sense to me.
I also download some peplink app on my phone, but it asks for some name to make a connection and add a new device, and a port for secure/non-secure connection. I gave up trying to figure it out.
@MATTHEW_PENA : I’ll also point out that the devices you have connected – smart TV, phone, etc – are likely doing far more “background stuff” than you may be aware. I’m frequently amazed at the data usage of my phone when it’s not even within arm’s reach. I’ll leae it to you to determine the wisdom of leaving a phone connecetd to the router when the only WAN is cellular.
If you want to use the Router Utility app make some noise here and someone will help you. It is a valuable tool and quite simple to use.
