Another option is having a router/firewall behind the peplink and sticking either a static route in the peplink or using OSPF, then intervlan traffic can be routed without putting load on the peplink device, if you don’t need firewalling a L3 switch may even be an option.

That’s exactly our scenario, but still we need more than 2 Internet connections (4 x 70Mbps + 1 LTE WAN cold backup). Unfortunately over here we get only symmetrical dedicated 1GB/s FTTH, which would cost us 1500€/month

Good idea, I could keep the Balance One for WAN traffic only, despite the fact the Balance One should be required to handle 200 clients for Internet access. It might be worth it to upgrade the router as a whole
