HD4 with prepaid sim

Hi
I have a HD4 with 4 prepaid sim. The problem I have is when I consume all the amount of the first sim , I have no more connection even if I still have credit in the 2 one. The first sim, can connect only to the web page of the provider in other to recharge the SIM card. any help for this

Smartcheck can get fooled when the MNO redirects all new internet access attempts to their payment portal. Since the payment gateway portal redirect process only tends to affect new sessions (so older sessions stay up and pass traffic - which makes the link look healthy) to all intents and purposes the cellular WAN is viewed as healthy by Smartcheck.

I get round this by using http health check instead. I host two websites on different hosts in different datacenters with just a single index.html page with the text ‘wancheck:good’ in it

Then use the HTTP health check method to access those sites and match the string:

This works for me on prepaid and top up SIMs in the UK.

Hi

When I tried what you tell me I have WAN failed http test. Could you be more specific about "I host two websites on different hosts in different data centres with just a single index.html page ». For my example I used in the http google.com http://google.com/. Is it right
Rgds

I have a couple of web hosts set up that have a single index.html file hosted on them. The contents of the index.html file is literally just the text ‘wancheck:good’

In my health checks I target those two webhosts and search for the text.

Hi
I am sorry but still have a problem with the web hosts. Http://www.yahoo.fr will be good or not. Could you give me an example just to have a better idea.

My webhosts are just webspace accounts (like you would buy if you are hosting your own website). You can buy a godaddy web hosting account for a few dollars and just upload the index.html file there, or if you have another website somewhere you can add a html file to a subfolder and use that for your tests eg: https://www.slingshot6.com/wancheck/

Hi Martin
Thank you for your help. Could you give me your personal mail so I could send you the address of my HTTP address I configure. I think I do everything good but the peplink tell me HTTP fail. If you can check if it’s working for you so after, I will know that the problem comes from my operator
Rgds

Sure will PM you.
