Disabling healthcheck breaks TV app

Hello,
I have a Balance One, running on a single WAN, with the latest firmware. The event log show the DNS health test failing every 5 minutes or so and coming back about 10 seconds after each failure. I decided to remove the health check since it was just adding noise to the log. I also and marked the WAN connection as ‘always on’, since its my only one. Everything kept working normally, except for the amazon app on my tv. It became unable to get results after a search and to load titles. I tested enabling/disabling the health check twice, and each time, the app would only worked with the health check enabled.

I suspect that disabling the health check may mess with the DNS proxy setting on the router, but I am no expert. Could this be a bug in the firmware? Thanks!

Its more likely that your ISP’s DNS servers are overloaded so taking a very long time to reply, and that latency is causing a timeout (which you saw on the health check failures) that makes the amazon app unable to reach online resources.

Add another DNS service to your WAN (like 1.1.1.1) and see if the problem goes away.

Thanks! That seems to have helped. I was able to use the app regardless of the health status setting. Cheers!
