Now that the DCS is EOL there is not an one on one replacement available yet.
The current Peplink AP’s don’t have the ability to connected to other WIFI networks and bridge it to its ethernet port.
WIFI mesh is just not a good alternative as we can only connect to other Peplink device with it.
WIFI WAN will also not work as it will NAT the WIFI network its connected, Not all Peplink devices have this feature and if they have this feature its usually not in a ideal location to receive WIFI from.
Yes, we could pull coax for a external WIFI antenna but usually there is no room or the coax will be too long, and causes to much dBi loss.
So, my suggestion is the following:
Is it possible to build the DCS features in the existing Peplink AP’s?
The hardware is there we just don’t have the options in the current AP Firmware.
Maybe have it as an additional option on the operation settings of the AP?:
Call it DCS mode or maybe a better name to reflect what this option is doing and promote it as a new feature?
Please let me know, We already have customers in need of a DCS that we can’t provide…
