We currently are trying to deploy Pepwave Max routers using either AT&T or Verizon internet usb sticks. However, the AT&T USB sticks require some extra configuration (updating the Access Point Name - APN to a custom) on the WAN port they are connected to. I would like to know if there is a way to load a script onto the router to detect if the stick is AT&T and automatically update the WAN settings and revert it otherwise.
Any help or advice is much appreciated!
Some of the setting are allow to be defined at the USB stick level.May i know the model for you USB sticks ? Beside that, what is the APN settings for you AT&T and Verizon package ? Enterprise subscription that require custom APN or public APN ?

The Verizon sticks do not need the APNs to be changed. The AT&T Stick is a Sierra Aircard 313U and the APN we need to change it to should be a public one (m2m.com.attz).
@baller_chan Look like the given APN for AT&T is not the consumer APN, hence you need to define the custom APN inorder the connection able to establish. Detail info, please refer to the URL:

The USB WAN is per WAN configuration, if you defined the custom settings, you need to configure it again when you changed using different USB stick running different ISP.

I am already aware of that solution. I am trying to avoid having to do this via a script to automatically set the APN based on the USB stick. If this is not possible to do, this matter is resolved.
