A minor correction: you can actually buy InControl2 for an out-of-warranty Balance One, for only $29/year, not $89 as I stated above.
I went ahead and did that, and was able to get Region blocking working via InControl2 (albeit with some hiccups: Link)
I’m still likely to upgrade to a B One, given all the great points @DaveZ made above.
