In the admin web console:
Where is the setting for the selection of load balancing algorithm?
How can I indicate that one WAN is data capped, so traffic volume should be tracked?
I have a Netgear R6250 that will not pull an address from the Peplink DHCP server. I have set up a reservation for it. It does work on other firmware based DHCP servers, but does not respond to the Peplink. The configuration that is already there is working, but this means, as it stands at the moment, that I can’t ever change the SSID passphrase or modify MAC filtering (add a new wireless device.)
OK, the answers (Balance 20, hardware rev 8, firmware 8.3.0):
You set rules in Outbound Policy in Advanced.
If you are selecting specific treatment for devices, as in, you want a particular device to use a particular WAN interface, it’s a good idea to make rules “enforced” and set “Independent From Backup WANs” enable.
In Network | WAN you select the data capped connection and in the popup just under Health Check there is Bandwidth Allowance Monitor. You can be informed in email, or not. Traffic is always tracked, but the Monitor can trigger email and/or an automatic disconnect.
I turned on DHCP logging and the Netgear R6250 was acting hard-coded. In the config, it is not a gateway and had its DHCP server turned off. I knew the server was off, but that kills the DHCP client as well.
Rejiggered the environment partially back to pre-Peplink, and set the LAN address to a new hard coded value. The DHCP reservation in the Balance 20 is still good, as it will keep the now hard coded IP from being handed out as an IP conflict.
