Advice on home setup

Hi everyone,

Been considering purchasing Peplink products for my home network. This is purely for home use… average 18-24 devices connected. (Apple products mostly, a couple of google devices and other IoTs).

Currently using an Asus RT-AC87u flashed with Merlin… I live in a 2 story townhome with a finished basement (so 3 floors). Total about 1867 sq ft. We’re 5 people in the home and most stream music and video. I also have VOIP.

My current router is on main level centrally located near the ceiling, and i can get solid WIFI throughout. It starts to drop off outside in yard.

My ISP rated speeds are 500 up and 20 down…

I used to run Sophos XG firewall on an old PC but found it difficult to maintain at times and problematic with streaming video on certain devices.

I was looking at a Balance One core with possibly 1 AP Lite. AP lite would go where my current router is located.

What I’m unsure of is the WIFI range of 1 AP and whether it’d be enough to cover my entire home (2nd floor and basement)

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hello @stego,
There are a lot of posts in the forum worth reading on this.
